The president of Transparency International Macedonia in relation to the State Department’s report on the state of the rule of law and corruption in Macedonia stated that corruption is a deep-rooted problem in the country and that a complete reform of the judiciary, as well as vetting, is needed.
Taseva stated that: “High corruption is also a high economic crime, money laundering and illegal movements of money acquired through corruption. The government should decide on a complete reform of the judiciary, including vetting.”
She added: “Our US friends should use the legal mechanisms available to them under international law and their own national law to bring proceedings against corrupt individuals here.”
