The President and members of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) today held a meeting with representatives of the civil sector – members of the Platform of Civic Organizations for Fight Against Corruption consisting of: Institute for Democracy Societas Civilis Skopje, Coalition All For Fair Trials, Macedonian Center for International Cooperation, Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, Transparency International-Macedonia and Connect Association.
The meeting was held at the initiative of the SCPC, with the aim of familiarizing the members of the Platform with the new composition of the SCPC and considering the possibilities for improving cooperation.
The President and the members of the SCPC briefly informed the representatives of the Platform about the activities undertaken in relation to the implementation of the legal competences of the SCPC since the beginning of its mandate, as well as the challenges faced by the SCPC, especially emphasizing the competences in the election period for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
The representatives of the civil sector emphasized the need to take additional activities and use tools to strengthen the integrity of the participants in the electoral process, as well as taking measures in cases where there is a suspicion of violation of the laws in the electoral process.
President Dimitrovska emphasized that the cooperation of the SCPC with civil society organizations is of particular importance in strengthening the mechanisms for prevention and a more effective fight against corruption.
The representatives of civil society organizations expressed their satisfaction with the successful cooperation and supported the proposal of the SCPC for deepening it by concluding a new memorandum.
