In the era of digitization, the availability of open data is of great importance for the fight against corruption. Transparency International – Macedonia within the project: “Integrity Watch in the Western Balkans and Turkey: Civil society combating corruption with political integrity data” will prepare a database for obtained concessions for the exploration of mineral goods and the construction of small hydropower plants.
The project seeks to empower citizens and civil society actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey to hold their political office holders to account for the integrity of political finance, law-making and resource allocation. Thus strengthened political integrity shall foster more public decisions consistent with the common good.
Transparency International – Macedonia will prepare a database that will include information on received concessions for the exploration of mineral goods and the construction of small hydropower plants. Open data and easy review of awarded concessions are needed in order to inform citizens and all relevant stakeholders on this exceptional issue. The openness of this data has clear relevance because of the economic and environmental consequences of these decisions.
