The Government at a session on Tuesday (26.03.2024) made a decision on setting up a Council to monitor the implementation of the 2024-2028 Judicial Sector Development Strategy.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the Council will be set up for the purpose of ensuring continuity in the practice of monitoring reforms in the judiciary. As is known, the Government at the session held on 26.12.2023 adopted the Judicial Sector Development Strategy (2024 – 2028), along with an Action Plan.
The Council will ensure timely implementation of measures and activities according to the Action Plan, monitoring the priorities, the time frame and deadlines for implementation and evaluating the results achieved in the implementation of the Action Plan.
The Council will be chaired by the Minister of Justice, and other members include the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Information Society and Administration, the Minister of Finance, the Deputy PM for European Affairs and the Deputy PM for Good Governance Policies, as well as the Chief Public Prosecutor, the President of the Supreme Court, President of the Judicial Council, the President of the Council of Public Prosecutors of the Republic of North Macedonia, etc.
Other members are: Slagjana Taseva, Honorary President of Transparency International-Macedonia, Academician Vlado Kambovski; Vera Koco, retired judge; Adnan Jashari, professor at the South East European University – Tetovo; Besa Arifi, professor at the South East European University – Tetovo; Neda Zdraveva, professor at the Faculty of Law “Iustinianus Primus” – Skopje; Abdula Azizi, professor at the Faculty of Law at the South East European University – Tetovo; Nikola Prokopenko, State Counselor at the Ministry of Justice; Marija Nikolovska Gjorgjiev, officer in the cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs; Zharko Hadji Zafirov, representative from the Blueprint Group for Judicial Reform.
The Government adds that other ministers, deputy ministers and officials heading public administration bodies, local and international experts, professionals and the presidents of the Association of Judges, prosecutors, judicial service and the public prosecutor’s service will also attend the sessions and monitor the work if necessary.
