The 6th Political Integrity Bootcamp: Integrity of political financing was held in Berlin, Germany on 24th and 25th October 2024. The Bootcamp was in organization by TI-Secretariat and OSCE-ODIHR and participated more than 40 participants from different national chapters of TI, OSCE, national institutions, professors and other relevant stakeholders- experts in the field of financing of political parties. Different topics were discussed during the bootcamp. The Secretary General Metodi Zajkov and Marija Suncevska, Program manager in TI- Macedonia attended this bootcamp.
The first day started with discussion on Public Integrity, Political Finance and Legislative standards for political parties in the OSCE region and was presented the ODIHR Public Ethics and Integrity Toolkit: Guidelines for Political Parties. With this toolkit, ODIHR aimed to further strengthen its efforts in the field of assistance in parliamentary ethics and integrity. This targeted toolkit is created to support participating States, their parliaments and political parties in developing, advancing and implementing ethical and public integrity instruments. Also were given the results from the ODIHR’s election observation missions. The second part of the day covered the Transparency International’s Global Standards on Political Finance. This year TI has conducted a wide consultation on the most pressing challenges to the integrity of political finance, involving experts, stakeholders and national chapters and were developed new TI Standards on Political Finance Integrity. Representatives form TI-Secretariat presented its policy position on political finance integrity, outlining the six principles: transparency, clean money, fairness, gender equality, state neutrality and accountability.
On the second day separate TI national chapters had the chance to share their experiences, good practices and loopholes in the national legislations related to the political financing. Also were discussed in depth the six principles developed by TI on political integrity. The participants shared their views, experiences form their countries, practical implementation and other issues related to the principles on political integrity.
The bootcamp enabled good environment for networking of all the participants and connection for future projects and extended communication between the relevant stakeholders.
