The project is implemented by the Transparency International Secretariat in Berlin in cooperation with the national chapters of Transparency International in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Turkey and with partner organizations MANS (Montenegro) and IDM (Albania).
Project objectives:
The project’s objective is to strengthen democratic governance through active citizens’ participation in the fight against corruption to assess the effectiveness and accountability of the government and to contribute to systemic improvements of the policies and practices.
More specifically, the project aims to:
- Empower victims and witnesses of corruption to seek redress for their grievances;
- Engage in strategic advocacy to bring about systemic improvements (legal, administrative and institutional) in the fight against corruption.
- Strengthen the ability and willingness of institutions to receive and act upon corruption-related complaints and preventative framework.
- Provide high quality service to ALAC clients and improve the ability of project partners to capture and communicate impact
The project aims at supporting citizens in speaking up against corruption by providing legal advice and support. More than 15 years, the ALAC’s of Transparency International encourage citizens and organizations to report corruption and support them in seeking justice. The Advocacy and Legal Advice Centers are active in 59 countries, present across all continents and have worked on more than 250 000 cases and reports since 2003.
