Macedonian Parties Sued For Paying Cash in Elections

30.04.2014 Transparency International – Macedonia said it was filing criminal charges against the ruling VMRO DPMNE party and its junior government partner, the Democratic Union for Integration, DUI.

“The charges are for illegal payment of expenditures for the election campaign, such as paying in cash, and for using municipal and public enterprises funds for political party purposes,” the head of Transparency, Slagjana Taseva, said.

Media coverage not unbiased, international and local media monitors say

16.04.2014 Transparency International Macedonia (TIM), an independent, non-profit organization that promotes the values of freedom and democracy, has been systematically monitoring the media coverage of the April presidential and early parliamentary elections. This monitoring is a part of the project that has been conducted in cooperation with a UK-based Electoral Reform International Services (ERIS) and a Slovak media-monitoring organization MEMO 98, funded by the European Union, under the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights.

“Skopje 2014”: At least eight million Euros could have been saved

29.11.2013 The procedures for making monuments in the project “Skopje 2014” that were realized through the “Centar” municipality are conducted with serious violations of the Law on Public Procurement, and eight million euros could have been saved only from monuments, if the most reasonable offers were chosen.

Strengthening UN Convention Implementation Reviews

State Audit Office with a negative opinion for the financial statements of the Ministry of Health

06.11.2013  the final report of the audit office about the financial statements, the auditors noted that the Ministry has not been fully implementing the inventory of assets, receivables and payables, and that there is no harmonization of accounting with the actual condition of the assets, and liabilities of the inventory is formally implemented by taking the data from accounts.

“Due to wrongly implemented accounting principles and guidelines regarding the implementation of accounting transactions and inadequate communications and flow of information and documents between departments, the balance sheet items are wrong, and there are unfounded higher amounts that affects the real and fair presentation of financial statements “, says the report by the State Audit Office.

“Skopje 2014” under prosecutors scrutiny

20.08.2013 Fingers are pointed at the municipality Centar and the Ministry of Culture, which, according to Zernovski, worked illegally.

The report on investments of the municipality Centar within the project “Skopje 2014” found that from 2007 to 2013, for the construction of the monuments and accompanying content, even 58 million Euros were transferred from the central budget account of the municipality Centar for which there is no legal justification.
